What Might have been - Helium Balloon Test Flight 10/9/10 (9th October)

Hi Folks,

The first of the films from what was supposed to only be the test flight of the helium balloon HD camera experiment is now up on Vimeo. This is a short compilation of the images captured from the camera attached to the balloon itself. You can see it here:

This flight took a left turn at the last minute when the balloon didnt burst where it was predicted to - resulting in the payload being carried out to see and landing 50m offshore over 60km away from the original predicted landing zone. We recovered the footage from the HD camera at least, only to discover that the camera stopped recording after only 41 minutes. This capped off an eventful morning when a balloon filling experiment resulted in a loss of gas, leading us to resort to a lower ascent rate than originally planned, which ultimately contributed to the events at the end of the day.

I am also preparing a short documentary on the whole project horus experiment which I will post here when it is completed (targeting sometime next week).
