Profile Spotlight: Wayne Wong
This week we're happy to share the works of filmmaker Wayne Wong, who filmed some amazing timelapses around Hong Kong on 10/10/10

Can you tell us a little about your background and upbringing?
I hold a degree in Photography and has always been interested in design and visual communications.
I am a major film buff and movies are a favourite past time of mine, even "the making of..." features which I enjoy alot due to the fact that a big part of my job involves corporate video production for my clients, and its always good to learn from the big Hollywood studios showing you how things are done, which sometimes can be exciting to apply to some of my jobs when the client has a stretchable budget.
I've always been keen on photography and have a special interest in portraiture, landscapes and of course timelapse photography. I've only had my Canon 7D DSLR for about 6 months, and before that, my last camera purchase was my Canon EOS5 film based camera, which I bought for college back in 1992. So as you can see, I was very excited to try out all the new features available in these new digital cameras
Timelapse photography has always fascinated me, but I never really had the chance to produced one properly. So after finding out about the One Day on Earth project, it gave me an ideal opportunity to produce a timelapse piece, as well as been involved in a worthwhile project.
What inspired you to become a filmmaker?
I wouldn't classify myself as a filmmaker, as that to me is some one who does it all, some like Spielberg or James Cameron, who can think of something and make it come to life in their movies. I would like to consider myself more of photographer, as my interest lies very much on the visual side of things. I really appreciate work that are beautifully captured and put together, especially when it comes to documentary work such as Baraka, Babies and the recent Disney production, Oceans. I truly admire work such as these, and it is work like these that inspires me to do what I do and to constantly learn and progress in my craft.

Who or what do you most admire?
Bruce Lee is a true inspiration to me, not only because he's Chinese and he can seriously kick ass, my admiration for him is because of his undisputed devotion to his art and his love for what he does. He is truly some one who I think took himself to a level of being extraordinary. I also have great admirations for those who in the face of hostility and repression, fight for what they believe is right, my respect goes to them.
What did you film on 10.10.10?
I shot a timelapse of the Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter in Hong Kong from 12 midnight to 8pm. The typhoon shelter is a major fishing port and is one of Hong Kong main seafood wholesale market.
