A Question of Scales - One Day on Earth 10.10.10 from Brigitte Perrin on Vimeo.

Can you tell us a little about your background and upbringing?

I have a master degree in Political sciences, as well as a degree in Journalism. I have worked for 5 years for a national newspaper in Switzerland. Then, I worked for several years in the Internet Business as a Content manager and as a multimedia journalist (video-audio-writing). As a TV-journalist, I specialized in making portraits of important people in the political or the development scene. I wrote a book with the former ICRC general director about development issues, it was published in 2009. I lived in Africa (Senegal) for one year in 2010, where I worked for UNDP and a global program on climate change adaptation in communities. I made some films in Senegal about begging children and sanitary problems.

What inspired you to become a filmmaker?

I am convinced that the image can bring a message that cannot be transmitted only by writing stories or recording sounds. My favorite moment when making a film is the time during which I am observing what happens around me, how people are moving, communicating. It is important for me to "listen to the image" before filming.

Who or what do you most admire?

I admire life and everywhere where life is going, with humans, animals, nature. I admire everyone who is able to listen to the others and tries to understand them.

What did you film on 10.10.10?

I filmed a fisherman preparing and selling fish in one of the poorest market of Dakar.

What are you planning on filming for 11.11.11?

I will be in New York, probably filming people in their daily life, why not in a fish market?
