One Day on Earth

The World's Story is Yours to Tell

For the first profile spotlight since 10/10/10, we're happy to present filmmaker Seb Farges, who made this moving piece with his daughter Nina. Seb was kind enough to share with us some back story on the film... (see below)

One Day On Earth 10/10/10 @ Bordeaux (France) from Seb Farges on Vimeo.

I knew that on Sunday 10/10/10 I was going to film for the One Day Project. However, I didn't have a specific idea in mind. It was the end of the weekend, and after spending it with Nina, my 6 years old daughter, I had to bring her back to her mother. I decided to fix this moment with my HDSLR, a Panasonic GH1 with a Computar 25mm 1:1.8 C-mount lens. It was an improvisation. Then, during the editing, I tried to share my feelings, without being too pathetic, as a single father. - Seb Farges

Very endearing, this video. I shared it with my wife via Facebook. She loved it as well. I think it is in what you don't say that keeps this interesting for me. We never find out all that much, and perhaps for that reason are compelled to keep watching to find out if there is more. Very satisfying, too, the image of Nina greeting her mother at the end.

You are very welcome although sometimes I don't know what to say initially. Your video kept coming back to my mind while I did the dishes. Perhaps because it is simple and complex at the same time. Like life...very ordinary moments are very wrenching sometimes.
