Who are you and what is your profession? My name is Piotr and I'm an English teacher. I find it quite rewardingsince the vast majority of students is motivated enough to do their best which in turn usually brings learning results that are more than satisfactory. Can you tell us a little about your background and upbringing? I was born and grew up in Sandomierz, a small town in Southeast Poland, one of the oldest ones in the whole country. Most tourists who visited Sandomierz told me that it was easily one of the most beautiful places in the whole world. It was impossible for me to argue the point since I'd known the place so well. It was indeed a photographer's dream, both when it came to landscapes and portraits.
What inspired you to be a filmmaker? I've always been more or less serious about photography, but when my son was about to be born more than two years ago, my father-in-law told me that it might not be a terrible idea if I equipped myself with a camcorder. Primarily it was supposed to be used to immortalize those fleeting moments when my son took his first steps, uttered his first words, etc. However, I immediately realized just how easy it was to bring some life to most of the stills I'd take before. My camcorder has ever since become my ever-present companion.
I have to admit that whenever inspiration for film-making is discussed, there is a website I always mention, full of awesome artists who share their ideas and motivate young film-makers to do better with each and every project they start. Vimeo.
Who are your heroes? John Paul II, Krzysztof Kieslowski
What story do you want to tell on 10.10.10? As a matter of fact, I'm not sure yet. It all depends on the weather which is highly changeable these days, but I'd like it to be something I've never done before.
