One Day on Earth

The World's Story is Yours to Tell

Presenting One Day on Earth participant Maya Petrova.

Who are you and what is your profession?

My name is Maya Petrova. I was born a few decades ago on the banks of the Danube river Bulgaria. Now I live in Sofia, where I work as an office manager for a big law firm. I find myself positive, energetic, ready for adventures at any time, a person who is enjoying life.

Can you tell us a little about your background and upbringing?
My Education is not connected to the photography. I graduated in Economics. I'm currently spending most of my time behind the desk, in front of the computer, but at the same time I'm looking forward to new challenges, possibly related to some of my favorite hobbies like traveling, tourism, photography. Since I can remember I've been always interested in exploring the world surrounding me, shooting people, animals, everything what I've been finding interesting…. My first camera was an old "Smena 8M" manufactured in the USSR. At that time used b/w photo tapes only.

What inspired you to be a photographer?
I am very curious about everything that surrounds me, I could be easily impressed by even seemingly minor things. I'm happy to be one of that people, who can find beauty in everything around them, in such moments I wish to save impressions in order to share those with the world.

Who are your heroes?
My heroes are all that people who won the hardest battle - with themselves!

What story do you want to tell on 10.10.10?
I still have no plans, I believe the ideas will arise unexpectedly at the right moment!

Why is this important to you?
This is a great possibility for me to share my perception, the way I see the world at that moment with other people and I hope to make happy at least a small part of them, being a part of the One Day On Earth team!
