Who are you and what is your profession?
My name is Jon Rawlinson, I'm a filmmaker.

Can you tell us a little about your background and upbringing?
I was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada but grew up mostly in Ottawa and Vancouver.

What inspired you to be a filmmaker?
My father always had cameras when we were growing up. I used to make short videos with my brother. The first ones we made were of us wakeboarding on the rideau river in Manotick, Ontario. I didn't really get filmmaking until my Mother told me about the Vancouver Film School. I took the New Media program in 1998. It was a fantastic program where we learned all aspects of digital creativity; video, web design, graphics, editing, 3d animation. The course was way ahead of its time.

Who are your heroes?
Ron Fricke, David Attenborough, Alastair Fothergill, Sebastian Junger

What makes you happy? - shot on 5DMKII from Jon Rawlinson on Vimeo.

What story do you want to tell on 10.10.10?
I'd like to do a story on a local environmental charity in Vancouver.

Why is this important to you?
There are so many great charities out there and most of them need help getting the word out.
