the dance have correlation with earth planet rotation..the dancer doing a whirling ( rotation ) with opposite direction of watch time direction..
in they philosofi is,
" all members of our body is like a spinning universe, praised substance in the human heart "

i saw the whirling dirvishes of damascus at ucla and also a dirvish perform with yuval ron for the world festival of sacred music, i love them!!!
