Following
the recent illegal logging of about 348 trees in Muthurwa estate to
pave way for development by the Kenya Railways Staff Retirement Benefit
Scheme.
The residents are witnessing first hand the impact on the illegal
logging.dust fumes choking etc are the order of the day.Through a
Boxing bout and Upcountry Inter Buses football tournament event running
consecutively youths will be able to engage in sharing and engaging
environmental awareness / planting and petitioning the government for
those who illegally felled the trees to face the consequence of their
actions.
The event will also be instrumental in pushing for the renovation and
return to community their recreation facility (social hall) at new
multi million Muthurwa Market
How to Get Involved Planning the Event: On
30th-Sep-2010 we are attending a court case in High court Nairobi which
the Muthurwa residents have instituted stopping the evictions and
demolish afterwards we plan to march to the Kenya Parliament,Office of
the President to petition for the arrest of those behind the illegal
logging of trees,reclaiming our sporting recreational facility and stopping the sale
of Kenya Railways cooperation assets countrywide.
