Profile Spotlight: Nita Deda

Who are you and what is your profession?

My name is Nita Deda and I am a media and communications professional.

Can you tell us a little about your background and upbringing?

I grew up in Kosova and later on lived and studied media in Tirana and Prague.

What inspired you to become a filmmaker?

I am not a filmmaker. I made the story for One Day on Earth through Kosovo 2.0 (http://www.kosovotwopointzero.com/en), together with a filmmaker from Kosovo named Yll Citaku.

Who or what do you most admire?

My two brothers.

What did you film on 10.10.10?

We documented an old tradition of the Terbesh people of Kosovo that live in the village called Lubine e Ulet. On the day of their wedding, the face of every girl is painted on and traditional clothes and ornaments are put on her so that the evil eye is prevented.

What are you planning on filming for 11.11.11?

Probably the coffee culture in Prishtina.
