The World's Story is Yours to Tell
One Day on Earth Cologne Cathedral Germany 10/10/10 from Felix von der Osten on Vimeo.
Can you tell us a little about your background and upbringing?
I have lived in Cologne for 21 years, I got my diploma from German secondary school qualifying for university admission. After that I served 1 year in the German Army. Now I started working at a photographers office. In the near future, I hope to study Photography at the Fachhochschule Dortmund.
What inspired you to become a filmmaker?
My time at the German Army inspired me to start taking short films. Also the new HD standard had a lot to do with it. I love the style of HDSLR HD filming and wanted to show everyone my own home city Cologne. Also Philip Bloom and his Vimeo Channel inspired me to be a filmmaker on my own shooting HD short films of my surroundings.
Who or what do you most admire?
I most admire people shooting documentations at conflict areas risking their life for the perfect shot.
What did you film on 10.10.10?
I filmed my home city Cologne. Specially the Cologne Cathedral called "Kölner Dom". I wanted to show this special building in the middle of Cologne to everyone in the world because as a Cologne citizen you often forget what special building is located in Cologne.
What are you planning on filming for 11.11.11?
I am planning to film the start of the Cologne Carnival Season at the 11.11.11 at 11.11 o'clock (yes that is the date when it starts ;) ) I think that is a very special date and then I want to show something special too. The most people don't know what happens in Cologne at Carnival but read more at wikipedia ;) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cologne_Carnival)
