The World's Story is Yours to Tell

This week we bring you filmmaker, beekeeper, and beekeeping-film-maker Brynmore.

Who are you and what is your profession?

I would consider myself a generalist. One with good taste, but a generalist none the less. I love shooting, editing, directing, writing, mixing. Storytelling is my passion and filmmaking is just one avenue I travel down. I'm a multimedia specialist at Harvard by day and a documentary filmmaker/DJ/instructor/beekeeper/ photographer by night.

Can you tell us a little about your background and upbringing?

I was born in Guyana, South America, and grew up in Barbados. My father was a journalist and my mother, a science teacher. I followed the path of my older brother and sister into science. But photography, music and software got the better of me. I taught myself how to shoot and edit and soon found myself in hot pursuit of the perfect story.

What inspired you to be a filmmaker?

I find it hard to pinpoint the moment of inspiration. It was, and still is, a very slow evolution. I love great storytelling. I salivate at the ability to connect so deeply with your subjects or audience that it inspires and enlightens them. I think I've applied my science background to how I think about story structure. Every story can becomes an exothermal chemical reaction.

I have been a DJ for many years and music is a huge influence on the rhythm and pacing of my video work. Albums like The Orb's Pomme Fritz and U.F. Orb painted rich audio landscapes and told such vibrant stories that it was an easy leap to go from the headphones to the viewfinder.

Who are your heroes?

Gordon Parks, Melvin Van Peebles, Errol Morris, The Orb, David Attenborough, Pink Floyd, Paul Keens Douglas.

What do you feel you want to shoot on 10.10.10?

I like the idea of themes. It allows one to look at similar stories in a different way. Instantly, 10.10.10 inspired the idea of BINARY. A digital story in this digital age.

Why is this important to you?

The concept of this project alone speaks to the creative breadth that technology has afforded us. I want to be there when it all goes BANG!
