Fukushima Conference 2011 Starts 11.11.11!
Global Conference by and for the People of Fukushima
November 11-13, 2011 at Fukushima University and local communities

FUKUSHIMA, Japan – November 11, 2011 – A global conference “Fukushima Conference 2011” starts today November 11 through November 13, 2011 at Fukushima University and in several local communities in Fukushima, Japan.

Fukushima Conference 2011 offers an interactive opportunity to look at the reality of Fukushima, listen to unheard voices, pull ideas and thoughts together from NPO members and thought leaders, and strengthen people’s solidarity after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster.

The Conference will aim at relieving people’s fear and sharing their voices with others through dialogue about now and the future of Fukushima.

Many participants will be joining together from all over Fukushima, Japan and overseas for this three-day program.

Day 1 “Main Session”: Participants will listen to voices from people in Fukushima and discuss together in one single place.

Day 2 “Working Sessions”: Participants will discuss on four different topics with experts and leaders from Chernobyl, decontamination, natural and renewable energy and local community activities.

Day 2 “Youth Session”: In parallel with Working Sessions, young participants will have another opportunity to gather and share with their peers.

Day 3 “Local Sessions”: Participants will have an opportunity to directly listen to residents in different areas (Fukushima, Iwaki, Iitate, Minamisoma, and Aizu) and discuss their issues and challenges together.
