To be honest I stumbled upon this concept quite a while ago and while it deeply intrigued me, the everyday stresses of being a geographically single parent quickly eroded it from my mind. By chance I happened upon the link as as the day is approaching, thought that it'd be an amazing project to participate in.
It's not that my story is particularly interesting or that my corner of the world is of any special consequence. I just feel compelled to participate. The artist in me loves the deep beauty of even the concept. The interwoven fabric of million of unique stories and how they relate appeal to the sociologist in me.
We're nearing the end of a year long deployment and I'm hoping that I'll be able to capture, if not my own husband's homecoming, perhaps someone else's or at least the preparation of those homecomings. Due to security purposes and military rules and regulations, I have no actual idea of WHEN my husband will be home, only that it's a year long deployment and that year is coming to a close. Its a chance but we're at a large base, I'm betting someone will be home that day.
