John Robinson is a Africa based photojournalist of Zambian extraction, and now living in South Africa.

John Robinson is a Africa based photojournalist of Zambian extraction, and now living in South Africa.

He has worked as a freelance photographer since 1996 and worked in more than 19 countries. Covered stories from the IDP camps in Darfur, the elections in DRC, Malaria in Katanga, travelled to Uganda, Mocambique, Mali, Ivory Coast, Zimbabwe, Zambia. His stories include AIDS, TB, laughter, daily life and people of Africa.

John has lived in Africa for more then 40 years. Since 1996 His images has been published in Le Monde, LA Times, Washington Post…

He is also an opinionated commentator on contemporary Africa and has a great personal knowledge of more than 19 countries on the continent.

John comes from a broad based visual design and design educational background. He is a graduate of the Market Theatre Photography Workshop 1992/1995, and participant in photojournalism programs with The Institute for the Advancement of Journalism in Johannesburg South Africa and Poynter Institute. John worked for a number of years in Johannesburg with The Star, Sunday Independent, Mail & Guardian, Business Day, Leadership and Marie Claire.

He continues to be privileged to spend much time in the lives of some, or just a moment or two in the lives of others and come away with images that convey the essence or an aspect of these moments in time.

He is currently involved in long term photojournalist projects, news features, portraits and social documentary imagery with a special interest in the current issues around health, culture, and african daily life. his clients include online media, wire services, international news media organisations, print media and international developmental partnerships.

John has left footprints in Zambia, Rio de Janeiro, Washington DC, Europe, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Dubai, Sudan, Darfur, Southern Sudan, Uganda, Mali, Ivory Coast, Kinshasa, Lubumbashi, Lesotho, Botswana, Malawi, Nairobi, Swaziland and South Africa.
