We're near Good Samaritan Hospital (the intersection of Hwy 85 & 880) and my daughter is in kindergarten at Carlton Elementary. My wife works near Park & Naglee in the Rose Garden, so I'm also relatively familiar of the area. What about filming IN the Rose Garden?
I'm also very familiar with Palo Alto (having lived near Rinconada Park), as well as cities in between (I grew up in Los Altos and currently work in Sunnyvale). Bottom line, I'm comfortable meeting you anywhere between my area and yours.
I am still trying to figure out how I get time away from work, although if we were to do an after-school meeting at the park, then I could get away with sneaking out mid-afternoon with relative ease. My daughter's class lets out at 2:45 — we'd just need to coordinate to ensure that we had enough time for filming before dusk.
If you (and your son) are game, then let's move forward with this idea. Assuming we're talking about a couple of hours around 3:00 or so, then I think it's safe to assume that I can sneak out of the office.
Looking forward to discussing this further.

And just in case you have any reservations about committing to something with a random guy you met on the internet, Gail can certainly serve as a reference for me. :-)
I'm interested in discussing project ideas with you. I'm in San Jose and am trying to get the day off work to participate in ODOE. While I'm only an amateur videographer with limited equipment, I'm a writer and can collaborate on the general concept and storyboarding. I'm also very enthusiastic about ODOE in general and would very much like to participate in some way.
You mentioned that you might film your son for the project. I have a 6-year-old daughter and thought that it might be interesting to show the two of them meeting for the first time on 12-12-12. Might be more in line with the concept behind One Day on Earth ... or at least a hook when submitting video for consideration.

P.S. I see (via LinkedIn) that you're friends with Gail Huddleston. I know her through other channels, but it's nice to see the connection there.
