I would like to film a day in the very special place in which I live. It is a multicultural town in the vast wilderness area of the Kimberley, north-western Australia. It has it's own very unique culture, understanding of time, and limitless positive energy. It is Broome town. Broome is a living example of reconciliation between different races. Together with the whole Kimberley it is sadly currently under threat of large scale industrialisation. The community is supporting the Goolarabooloo, the Indigenous Custodians of the land, and standing up against the state Government and oil and gas companies to fight for their sacred land and the spirit of Broome, which would both be lost if particular proposals were to go ahead. My intention is to capture the beauty of the Kimberley and the spirit of Broome to represent 'what we have'. 'What we need' is to protect this place and to save it from large-scale industrialisation. I hope to explain what is so unique about this place and why it needs protecting. I'd like you to see some of the natural beauty of the Kimberley and in particular of Walmadan Indigenous camp and blockade. I would like you to see what we need to protect, I would like you to see the special human relationships this place fosters and I would like you to see a regular day at the Goolarabooloo camp and tent embassy, otherwise known as Walmadan.
