Hello & thank you for helping me. Below is an brief description of what we are capturing:
I am filming in New York City: "aging in the western world" on 11/11/11. We are focusing on 2 subjects that are 90 yr old woman. I am looking to represent stories about aging and what it's like to grow old in other regions.
TOPICS OF DISCUSSION:
+ Focus on the later years of life. How they elderly person see themselves fitting into our "modern" world.
+ How are they supported? (eg. family support, hospice care)
+ What type of challenges have they experienced in growing old in their community?
+ Tell us about how they feel about where they are living
+ What are their thoughts on dying?
+ How do they deal with missing friends and family who have passed.
+ Do they feel they have lived a full life?
+ Tell us a powerful story - a piece of personal history
+ Tell us a memory that taught you a great lesson
WHAT WE WANT TO PORTRAY:
+ Contemporary societies have become youth centric and have forgotten about the old
+ We should remember there is still life there despite the old age.
+ There is value to this human history as it's a part of the heritage of humankind - For the old are keepers of knowledge we can use in the present and future.
SHOT LIST:
