Chris, I just watched your video from 11.11.11 and really liked it. You did a great job shooting the video, I especially like the idea of the simultaneous wishing. I hope you can join us again on 12.12.12. Do you have anything in mind as to what you would like to film that day?
HI Chris, nice to learn about you and I think one day on Earth is the project that can connect people with different national backgrounds. We'll try to keep in touch and exchange some comments with you. My students can connect your students online, but I'm afraid they will devote all their time to that and not do any hometask and I'll have problems with other subject teachers :)
Nice to connect, Chris. I teach Humanities, Psychology, and Theory of Knowledge in southern Taiwan. My humanities students weave visual storytelling through multimedia into their learning over the course of the year. This is our first semester project. They have been developing plans for about 2 weeks.
Some are focusing on more visual elements/concepts, but most are focusing on capturing learning, community, the environment, and global issues affecting our lives here in southern Taiwan. We'll spend the day filming on and around our campus, but most student groups are then taking to the city and surrounding area for the early morning, afternoon, and evening.
We'd love to connect and share our footage. The students could meet up via Skype (it's a little difficult with the time difference but not impossible) to discuss questions that the two of us, and all of them, have created. Comparing schools, local environments and cultures ... could be good. We could even offer some simple Chinese lessons if they're interested :)
