Coral reefs are the most biodiverse yet fragile ecosystems in the world. Less than a 0.2% is covered by coral reefs but they host 50% of the entire life on the Earth. Quintana Roo State in southern Mexico has a part of the second largest barrier reef in the world (The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System). There are some local and international agencies working to document the state of health of the reefs in order to make outreach for their conservation. Here I show a video sample that I took from a coral reef survey, performed by a group of volunteer researchers in Quintana Roo.
