Zuerich, Switzerland's Winter Carnivale - Festival

Zuerich, Switzerland's Winter Carnivale - Festival

Best I can figure out is that it's Zuerich, Switzerland's winter carnivale: The "fifth season of the year" as Carnival or German Karneval is called, begins on November 11th at 11:11 AM. But the real "crazy days" do not start before the so-called Weiberfastn...acht (Shrove Thursday), the Thursday before Rosenmontag (Carnival Monday). St. Martin's day ("Martini" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Martin%27s_Day) is on November 11th and traditionally marked the end of the summer season for farmers. Through convoluted historical processes, it also came to mark the official beginning of Karneval festivities, which culiminate on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday (as in Mardi Gras and so on). Carneval ends two days later on Ash Wednesday.
