The World's Story is Yours to Tell
The El Shaddai Charitable Trust is a registered, non-profit Street Child Rescue Charity working in Goa and other States in India, rescuing children left homeless by poverty abuse, or neglect. We focus on helping those who cannot help themselves, with a hand up, not a hand out.
Our main ways of helping are through:
Education
Shanti Niketan Centre for Learning is our school for children in residential care. We offer a safe, caring environment where children learn at their own pace. Classes range from general knowledge to skills training (computers, tailoring, etc.). A high percentage of our students go on to college or university.
Homes
We run 4 homes for street children, along with cottages for the older children who are attending local universities or colleges. Children considered for residential care are usually orphans, at-risk, or from extremely poor families. In the homes, children are given full-time care from loving staff. They receive food, shelter, and education. We are currently raising 300 children throughout all our
Shelters
Shelters are a safe haven for street children, our “first contact” with children in need. We try to keep children with their families, homes are a last resort for the very desperate, but shelters are a place where children can simply come to receive food, education, and loving care when they need it. We run 4 main shelters, along with several community centres, which serve much of the same purpose.
