The World's Story is Yours to Tell

American Pokeweed

American Pokeweed is a hardy plant that can live all throughout the eastern U.S. It is a plant, so it doesn't eat or move. It reproduces through its berries, which birds like to eat. It can be easily identified through its reddish stalks and dark purple berries. As a plant, it tends to be very invasive, and it is also a perennial. Pokeweed is very poisonous and can even severely harm humans. However, birds can eat the berries without being harmed. It appears early in spring, and and then it dies in the winter.
