About Yachana Foundation:

Yachana Foundation's mission is to continue to achieve sustainability through education. Our vision as a world leader in Geotourism is to create ongoing community development and economic opportunities, to provide training and education that inspires and transforms individuals into leaders and efficient administrators of natural resources, and to give viable economic and sustainable alternatives to the people who call the Amazon Rainforest their home. All these goals are realized through our own technical high school. What the students learn during their time at Yachana provides them with practical knowledge and skills they can use to continue to create economic opportunities and bring environmentally-friendly solutions to the unique set of challenges they face in their communities.

he Yachana Foundation works directly with Ecuador's Amazonian Region, protecting over 4300 acres of land and providing education to the adolescents of neighboring communities.

Through the One Day on Earth project we have one objective in mind: empowerment. We have a very talented group of students at Colegio Yachana. Each one has a very unique story, and it's time they are heard. On 10.10.10 the students will take complete control of the project, filming a day in their lives. Through the use of multimedia, they will strengthen their voices, participate in cultural exchange, and ultimately be empowered to fulfill their dreams.
