Hi all, I've been looking for the best housing for my 5D MII. Some says Ikelite not really recommended, but some says is OK. Can anybody give some advice?. Cheers, Dive safely.

Wow! Can I see your work somewhere? Are you on Vimeo?

Thanks a lot for your advices! Very useful.. Where will you bee shooting on the 10th?

I'm really looking forward to be using the 7d underwater. The manual focus is a bit tricky as you say - hope it's not too complicated.

Been shooting UW video since 1996. At work I get to use a SONY EX-1 which is what I will use on 10.10.10, but the Canon 7D is nearly as good and much less expensive so that's what I bought for myself, plus it's much lighter to carry on long trips AND takes great photos! Your lens sounds right for the job, and the LED light will be very useful at times. Just work on holding the camera steady in video mode - hard to do with the rear LCD screen (vs having a monitor on top of the housing like I rigged up). Shoot with the sun behind you whenever possible - you probably know that. Focus can be a challenge with SLR's in video mode underwater, and the 7D does not have continuous auto-focus. Pre-set your focus or use the quick focus mode when in live view. I'm still new at using the 7D underwater so I'll be anxious to hear your results too. Also, test using the manual white balance to get better color underwater (and take a white card and learn how to use the manual white balance operation).

Im using the 17-55 2.8 lens - and the housing is just a basic. Not a Ikelite. Unfortunately. I have some LED light to mount on the camera. Otherwise I'm thinking of normal diving light - how does that work?

And yes - I got plenty of storage. I been shooting with 7d for a while and so I know how important that is!

Its sounds like you do a lot of underwater shooting?

Brian, what housing (Ikelite??) and lenses are you using? Also, do you have a lot of storage space on your computer? I'm using a canon 7d in an Ikelite housing but I rigged it up with an external monitor for easier viewing underwater. How about video lights?

Greeting!

I'll be on Bali the 10th and I will be shooting some underwater footage for the first time. Really looking forward.

I'm shooting with Canon 7d - anybody who has some good advices? Dos and don't?
