One Day on Earth

The World's Story is Yours to Tell

Because the ice formed three weeks later than usual in November 2009 and then broke up over three weeks earlier in Spring 2010, I am very concerned about the condition of the bears in the area and especially about the numbers and condition of cubs. I'll be watching the videos and photos of Churchill polar bears on the Polar Bears International (PBI) website (www.polarbearsinternational.org) to get an idea of what the bears are like this year compared with past years. PBI Leadership Camps are going on right now and they are posting images, videos, and blogs about their experiences. I am so hopeful that the weather will be cold and that the ice will form quickly this year. I'm going to be watching.

sorry to hear that things are looking well this year, I know that global warming is having an effect on the polar bear life, thanks for looking after them some!
Yes, we are still waiting for the ice to begin to form, and we are concerned about what this means to the polar bears. They definitely need to be out feeding on the ice soon! Cross your fingers!
