The African Development Bank communications team, accompanied by a local Tunisian film crew, went down to the medina in Tunis today and filmed fair-trade carpet-weaving in the souks to illustrate a pilot project the Bank has launched along with 18 partners, called Souk At-Tanmia ("Market for Development" in Arabic). The project provides funding and technical support to 71 beneficiaries, including a rural carpet-weaving collective employing 60 women, to encourage job creation, innovation, rural development, inclusive growth, youth employment and human development.
