Janice,
Thanks so much for the website....that helps me a great deal...I also found another www.freesfx.co.uk You do have to sign up for an account with them, but you could download the tracks your self, and then make the files available to your students. 10-10-10- approaches :)

Dear collegues,
Tomorrow in Russia we'll celebrate Teacher's Day. It's a special date and I'd like to say to all of you , " My congratulations on the day !" because of our profession is absolutely international. I wish you good health, great patience and new creative ideas.

Chris,

As for low-end equipment, I shot these photos with a $5 disposable camera:

http://photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=645363

The lighting was key in this case- most of the photos were taken at sunset or early in the morning, when the light was good....also, they are all "wide angle" shots- landscapes 3/4 of the body portraits (I will post a link of a 3/4 body portrait) are good, because you can't really shoot good close-ups with a cheap lens....

Here is a decent close-up I took with a point-and-shoot camera:

It was mostly luck though, I took a lot of bad close-ups (40 or so) in order to get 1 good one....

just some thoughts, hope they help....

Chris, I think your ideas are great....don't under-estimate the potential of your students, even if they are slightly intimidated by their colleagues on the project...

The ideas you have brainstormed have a lot of potential, and "scouting locations" before the shoot will help them find interesting subjects to film....

Perhaps one of the best skills to stress for budding filmmakers is patience, it is the best friend of the documentary filmmaker, despite the time constraint of October 10th....capturing something beautiful on film often takes patience...

Dear Chris,
Those videos posted One Day On Earth are quite fancy, but I just advice my students shoot their clips roughly and not to worry about the "editing stuffs" since they are not familiar with video editing skill. I would love to let my students have fun recording some clips on National Day and share their reflection with friends here and iEARN forum.
cheers, Susan ^_^

Another question regarding posting videos. Will our students need Vimeo accounts to post their videos?. Or do they simply need to join One Day on Earth?

Hello Everyone,
I have a question I thought you could help out with. Obviously music is used in all the videos posted here, but I know my students won't have time to create their own music for their videos....and we want to be respectful of copyright.

Do any of you know good website sources for royalty free music we could use? Or better yet how will you be incorporation music into your videos?
