Warm regards

Hi again-

So videos for this project must be made on 10 October, and then uploaded onto this site soon afterward, YouTube-style. (We can then post links to it in the iEARN forum.)

As to when, I would imagine we should try to get everything uploaded within a few weeks - say by mid-November at the latest.

As to what, I think every teacher will have their own goals for this project. Keep it documentary, though. Show us what is unique about life in your area, good or bad. Maybe we can come up with a list of simple ideas.

So I definitely I recommend keeping all videos very short (under 5 minutes, say) and unedited (no titles, music, voiceovers, or even cuts.)

Best-
Chris

Hi everybody-

I just started a discussion in iEARN's Teacher Forum as well as on iEARN's One Day in the Life forum to discuss how to approach this event. (Great idea, Mbarek!)

Here is what I wrote to get the conversation started:

Hi everyone -

Our next iEARN One Day in the Life "OneDay event" will be on 10 October 2010 (10.10.10) and is called "One Day on Earth".

It will be a special video-only event in partnership with our friends at http://www.onedayonearth.org - please visit their website and watch their Trailer to get the idea. They are nonprofit USA filmmakers preparing a documentary movie for theatrical release, and have agreed to partner with iEARN for this event.

We are asking students (and teachers, too!) to VIDEO a little of their day or their community in a documentary style on 10 October. Videos will be uploaded to onedayonearth.org, and we will post links to them in our forum for discussion afterwards.

The themes may be the same as for our normal One Day in the Life events - ordinary life on this Sunday in October: mealtime, family life, school (if you attend school on this Sunday), activities with friends, community life, etc.

I strongly recommend that:
You keep the videos under five minutes in length (and maybe only 2 or 3 minutes!)
You don't try to edit or title or add music or voiceovers to your work. Leave it "raw". You can accompany your post with captions or explanations when you upload it.

So think about what might be happening in your life and your town on 10 October. What will be visually interesting to the rest of the world? What is unique to your country or region?

So, please sign up on their website http://www.onedayonearth.org right away! Be sure to identify yourself as an iEARN member. (And please join our iEARN group!) Teachers: you can request a free education kit.

We'll discuss this event more as the date comes closer. This will be a lot of fun! Feel free to post your thoughts or questions here in the meantime!

All the best-
Chris

Hi Chris
it will be good for all of us if you will send a link where we can read about this project and where we are going to upload our stuff.

Hi Chris ,
I find great the idea of getting connected to IEARN and posting video links there .We still need to know where and how ? I suggest to start a discussion on teacher's forum and name it after the event : One day on Earth Video Project .What do you think ?

Wao! Wao!
You gus are all here! I am attracted by Ruty's suggestion although leaving it open would create more fun.
Let us enjoy creativity.
