I live in Cheyenne, Wyoming in the US. Here in Wyoming, we have a very interesting challenge ahead of us. We are currently the largest coal producing state in the US (460 million tons) last year. We are also ranked in the top 5 states for oil and natural gas production. Currently, Wyoming spends more money per student than any other state in the nation on education, money that is primarily generated from taxes on our energy resources. You will find more people in Wyoming who claim that global warming doesn't exist, than people who acknowledge that we are causing devastating climate changes to our planet.

It's a very frustrating place to be for those of us who realize that we are causing global warming. On one hand, we want to push and become leaders in the renewable energy movement, but on the other hand, the thought of losing the 80% of our total state revenues generated by coal, oil, & natural gas is very daunting.

One thing is certain, if Wyoming doesn't figure out a way to lead the way in clean coal and renewable energy, our state's economy and quality of life are in serious jeopardy.

I would like to include this in my footage for 10-10-10 to let the world know that even though this state of only 500,000 people produces a majority of the fossil fuels for the United States, there are people here who realize what is really going on and who are trying to find solutions that will benefit the planet, while still protecting Wyoming's way of life.

Are we taking the right step forward? What examples do you see? I have thougt of doing a short video on good examples in Stockholm, Sweden on transformations of the city in the right direction.
In the long run it would be interesting from around the globe on what is done. I imagine it could be done collaboratively with examples from all continents.
