Rights Education And Development (READ)

READ is a committed grass roots volunteer organization, created entirely by Dalit (Arunthathiyar) young people, that has been operational since 2001. While we provide support to the entire community, we emphasize education of dalit girls. Our office is located in Sathyamangalam, Erode District, Tamilnadu, India.

READ's areas of focus:
- Establishing 70 rural village community based child activity centers for ensuring Dalit
(Arunthathiyar) children quality education
- Organizing children's parliament for Arunthathiyar children
- Running a bridge school for child laborers
- Organizing women's thrift and credit societies for Arunthathiyar women bank
- Occasional tailoring centre for Dalit (Arunthathiyer) women
- Eradication of Manual scavenging at Erode.Dt level .
- Dalit Human rights monitoring and intervention
- Research and documentation(Manual scavenging impact on children, School violence
on Arunthathiyar children, Sumangali thittam issue on Arunthathiyar young girl children )
- Ensure a quality education for Dalit (Arunthathiyer) children.
- To eradicate child occupation and bonded systems
- Have children participate in local decision making through the Children's Parliament.
- Enhance the overall capacity of(Dalit) Arunthathiyer women
- Enhance education and/or occupation opportunities for Arunthathiyar youth
- To eradicate the manual scavenging
