Street foods: The plight of the vulnerable
Manual work and physical activities help to build our fat free mass while at the same time using up a lot of the food we take in. Street foods have been the main source of food for most unskilled workers. These foods are mainly local, seasonal, palatable and good. They save many lives. However the world over, the preparation, handling and environments surrounding the counters from which they are served pose health dangers. The room for improvement is great and something needs be done.
Please think about Street foods:
1. What are street foods?
2. Street foods are for whom?
3. How can we improve on street foods to improve on food and nutrition security?
4. Other comments!
The video clips attached are for a community helping in the construction of a wing wall of a subsurface dam within Kawala village in Kibwezi District of Kenya for source of water. They need food to energize them and the quickest they can get is street food.
Kind regards,
Priscilla
