HELEN CLARK sends a message to all UNDP staff:

Call to Action: Help Document the MDGs.

Learn More about the Millennium Development Goals

With just four years until 2015, where are we? Choose an MDG that inspires you and document it within your community. What are some innovative and successful initiatives that you think the world should see? Here's your chance to directly address the UN and global community.

Guidelines
1. Identify an MDG that inspires you.
2. Document individuals or organizations in your community that relate to your MDG. Be a journalist! Use your local knowledge to search out and communicate a story that the world should see!
3. Make sure to get steady shots of all of your subjects. After you've laid the groundwork, play with composition and framing. Get creative!
4. When you upload your video please be sure to tag it with "UNDP" or "MDG".

In the case of Albania, MDGs mean a lot-as country aspiring to be a EU member soon..Achievement of the MDG-s is actually a step closer to EU integration agenda.
Our story features a member of a minority group in Albania who is trying to make a decent living and brings his perception of development...From exclusion to decent inclusion. He has ambitious goals and he is working hard to make them come true. UNDP Albania and other UN agencies are implementing many programmes in the area of social inclusion .
Wait until October 10th..... actually this is a great initiative!!!

The development perception of poor peoples' limited capacity for economic growth needs to be changed. The difference has to be qualitative, so that these people can bring in their experience into sustainable development and improved quality of life. In this way, they could help the service providers to be sensitive to issues of poverty, inequality and gender injustice. Gender sensitization of those in the higher strata, be they men or women, is of critical importance. Let's take a pledge to have our own attitudes changed to accept all human beings, all creatures and the whole of nature as the most precious objects to be cherished for life. Let's live with harmony and peace with all. Best wishes for a wonderful One Day on Earth everyday.

" If you don't have money, your disease will take you to grave" Says a poor women from Ghana, Africa.

Poverty is a grave social problem affecting the lives of billions of people across the world. The day we are able to eradicate poverty, we will be living in a better and more peaceful world where lack of opportunities will not affect human talent and survival.

Importance of MDGs

Adopted by world leaders in the year 2000 and set to be achieved by 2015, the MDGs are both global and local, tailored by each country to suit specific development needs. They provide a framework for the entire international community to work together towards a common end – making sure that human development reaches everyone, everywhere. If these goals are achieved, world poverty will be cut by half, tens of millions of lives will be saved, and billions more people will have the opportunity to benefit from the global economy.
