One Day on Earth

The World's Story is Yours to Tell

A great mathematician, physicist and of the foremost scientific intellects of all time, Sir Isaac Newton has quoted,“If I have done the public any service, it is due to my patient thought.” In 1665, through his keen observation and keen thought that would change the world forever. He discovered something which would defy public opinion of what was light and the belief that white light was the purest form of light and any other coloured light had been altered somehow.Sir Isaac Newton discovered colours.

In his dark room, Newton shone a beam of sunlight upon a glass prism and observed that that the white light was diffracted and dispersed into a spectrum of seven vibrant colours and thus came to the conclusion that light was made up of seven different colours, and each of these colours had a different wavelength which separated them from each other. This experiment about colours has fascinated me a lot and thus i have taken up this beautiful experiment for my one day on Earth project.

Like you, I am fascinated by this experiment too and believe me this experiment was my first choice for making the video. I think it definitely deserves a place in the list of the most beautiful experiments in the world because of its sheer simplicity and beauty. Hats of to Sir Isaac Newton for introducing this wonderful experiment to the world.
